Event detailsThere are, in all, three separate events that make up the Clarendon Way Races:
RouteYou can see the approximate route by clicking here. Please note that the distances shown here are not accurate. The courses have been measured and represent true marathon and half marathon distances. TimingFor the first time in the race's history, we will be using electronic timing chips for all runners. These will be sent out with your race number approximately two weeks before the event. Chips must be returned at the end of the race or within two weeks for DNS/no-shows. |

MarathonThe Clarendon Way Marathon starts at 1030hrs from the Godolphin School in Salisbury It passes through some stunning countryside in Wiltshire and Hampshire before finishing at Kings' School in Winchester. The route is mostly off-road, is tough and challenging but possibly one of the most scenic races you'll ever enter. The full marathon starts at 10.30am. Please note that the mile markers on the marathon course will count up from 1 to 13 then count down from 12 to to 1. Marathon runners should aim to reach the Half Marathon start point in Broughton in less than 2hrs 45mins i.e. by 13:15. Runners who have not reached this point by then will be asked to take the transport to the finish at Kings' School. |
Half MarathonThe Clarendon Way Half Marathon starts at midday mid-way through the full marathon course in the picturesque village of Broughton, and continues along the marathon cousre to finish at at Kings' School in Winchester. The half marathon starts at 12.15. |

Relay MarathonThe Clarendon Way Relay Marathon follows the same course of the full marathon. It comprises a four-stage relay, each leg being an average of 10.5km in length. Mixed teams of four only. The relay marathon starts at 10.30am. Please remember to collect your 'batton' (writst band) from registration before the race - one per team. This is to be passed on to the next runner at each transition point. Relay changeover points

Start & finish locationsThe start of the marathon is at The Godolphin School in Salisbury. The start of the half marathon is at Broughton village hall. Both races finish at the Kings' School in Winchester. |

ParkingParking has only been arranged for the Winchester end of the marathon course, although parking in Salisbury is possible. The two options are a) to park in Salisbury and use our transport to return there after the race, or b) to park in Winchester and take the bus before the race to Salisbury in time for registration. Parking in SalisburyPlease use Culver Street car park. This is only a 5 minute walk from the start. The council has kindly agreed this to be FREE so please DON’T place any money in the machines. There is also a limited amount of parking at St Martins School just across the road from the start. Parking in Winchester (full marathon only)Please park at the rear of the Kings' school which should be accessed via Sarum road off Chilbotlon avenue. This road will be partly closed between 1300 and 1700 due to the Race but you will be allowed access into and out of the car park. There is also a limited number of parking spaces in Sarum road hospital which is also in Sarum road just a short walk away. Parking in BroughtonPark in the field kindly lent to us at Church Farm, Buckholt Lane. SO20 8DA This is accessed from the B3024 which is the main road coming from the A30. IMPORTANT By request of the residents and for the future of arrangements in Broughton Please do not park in the high street or in the rear of the village hall. Please follow signs and marshals and allow 10 minutes to walk to the hall from the car park . Relay transition 1 - Middle WinterslowPlease park in sports field after passing shop. Look for signed areas Beware of runners crossing road!! Relay transition 2 - Broughton Village HallSee above for Broughton parking requirements. Relay transition 3 - Farley MountPlease park in parking areas in the vicinity and take care to avoid any runners as the course crosses the road at this point. |

Marshalling and route markersThe route will be well marshalled. Please obey the marshals at all times. In addition to marshals, there will be direction indicator signs at all junctions and, for the first time, there will be flour markings (arrows and dots) on the ground along the whole of the course. The flour will be laid on the morning of the races. Due to the nature of the course, there will be no lead vehicle. The Rotary Club of Winchester will be marshalling the whole course. Also marshalling and providing communications is Raynet. 'Search and Rescue' on mountain bikes will support the race. |

Facilities/changing/baggageThere are excellent, secure facilities at the start and finish of the events - including showers! Please be aware, we have no control over the amount of hot water you use so it may run cold if people spend too much time showering. Please be as quick as you can. All baggage will be transported from the start to the finish at Kings' School and will be placed in the sports hall for you to collect. |

TransportTransport is available to take competitors from the finish venue to either Broughton or Salisbury before or after the event. Please make sure you indicate whether you need transport on your entry form as we have to book coaches in advance. Pre-Race Transport Please be at the Finish venue in the Kings' School, Romsey Road NO LATER THAN 08:30 for the Marathon or 10:30 for the Half Marathon. The coaches will leave from Kings' School at 08:45 for Salisbury and 10:45 for Broughton respectively. If you have NOT pre-booked please check for availability before you arrive. Non Pre-Booked Journeys If you have NOT pre-booked for a coach trip to Salisbury (£5) or Broughton (£4) before or after the race you may, subject to space being available, pay as you enter the coach for the pre-race journey, or at the registration points for the post race journey, the ticket for which should be presented to the marshal as you board the bus. Additional return transport subject to requirement may be available. |

ConditionsAll competitors must respect both the highway and country codes. In the event of any traffic and or road restrictions rights are reserved to alter the course of the route without notice. The organisers cannot therefore be held responsible if the distance is not exact but assure all competitors that it will be as accurate as possible. |

PrizesThere will be an ASICS "goody" bag for all finishers in the 2010 race. The prizes, of which there are many, will be awarded to the first female and first male in the following categories:

Drink stationsThere are a total of nine drink stations on the marathon course. Water, squash bananas and jelly babies will be available at these stations. |
