Supporting Ella's

This story is from Minke van Til who will be running the full Clarendon with us this year to raise money for the charity Ella's who support women who have survived trafficking and sexual exploitation.

Her story is as follows:

Michael Walker

Michael Walker of the Chippenham Community Hub

I am 60 years old and a retired maths and science school teacher.  In my retirement I have become the Education Trustee for the Chippenham Community Eco Hub in Wiltshire.

Since retiring I have been careful to remain active.  I really do think that the best way to maintain your mental health, is to exercise.  I have found that running is perfect for me.

2020, what a year. Lockdown, no work, no holidays, no social events, no running events, ...... until the Clarendon!

Crossing the River Test

In 2020 every event in my race schedule got cancelled. And not just the races.

A Marshal's Story

The 5 mile to go location

This is the bitter-sweet story of the Clarendon mini-marathon 2020. A tale of trial and tribulation, and ultimate triumph; and like the actual race it is quite short. Covid 19, Storm Alex and a lot of people all running in different directions certainly made it a day that I will remember.

Why do I love the Clarendon?

Late bloomer

I didn’t start running marathons until I had reached the venerable age of 50 and realised that I was getting older and plumper. With the kids having left for University, my wife and I decided to move from the suburbia to central London, closer to work - and to the Thames Footpath: a great place to run every morning at 4.45am and still be at work by 7.30!

Only a few weeks to go until we all set off from Salisbury and run the 26 miles to Winchester, joined along the way by the relay runners, the half marathon runners and the mini (5 mile) runners.
