And the Jack Bush Jaguar Relay Team
On the 2nd of October 2022, the Jack Bush Jaguar relay team completed the Clarendon marathon relay! The team consisted of me (Katelin Lovell), my mum (Gretta Lovell), and my two aunties (Helen Jude and Sarah Pennels). Admittedly it was me that signed us all up in the first place (although if you had spoken to me in the middle of my leg then you would have heard me trying to deny it!) but we all ended up having so much fun training and doing the event together. My Auntie Helen set off on the first leg in the rain, exchanging over to Sarah who then ran the second leg. She then passed on to me who completed the third leg before I handed over to my Mum to finish it all off! And to top it all off my Dad ran the whole of the marathon alongside all of us, encouraging and cheering us all on (although I think for the last few miles, we ended up encouraging him on!!). We had so much fun doing it as a team, and it is such a great event with so many friendly volunteers! We would definitely do it again and we highly recommend!!
Now I know it doesn't sound like a lot for some people, but for me as a 16-year-old with Addison’s disease (if you’re wondering what it is then look it up, it’s got rather a complicated explanation!!) it was a long way, further than I'd been before! And what made it even more special was that we were raising money for a charity very close to all of us. Salisbury stars appeal is the NHS charity for Salisbury District Hospital. Every day they help hundreds of patients at Salisbury District Hospital and support the NHS staff who care for them.
This is particularly special to us as when me and my cousin (Sarah’s daughter) we're younger, we were looked after there so wonderfully in the children's ward at Salisbury hospital by the amazing staff. They have also cared for so many people in our family and other people we know, not to mention all the incredible other things they do as well. We have been so pleased to raise £700+ pounds to give back to this wonderful charity that has been so kind to us all!
